I'm fully embracing the season this year and decided I'd celebrate (first) with a classic fall DIY project --- pumpkin decorating! As most of my DIY projects go, they need to be simple (not many supplies needed... even better if I already have most of what's needed) & fast (I have no project patience). So when I found this little how-to I knew it was just the project for me.

Glittered Pumpkins
What you'll need:

• pumpkins (I went with baby jack-o-lanterns for ease but any will work)
• glue
• glitter
• newspaper
• paint brush (for glue)

Steps:

• Lay out newspaper (cover entire work surface to avoid getting glitter everywhere)
• Paint pumpkins with glue (I used mod podge but good old Elmers will work too)
• Sprinkle glitter evenly over glued pumpkin (be generous with the glitter, the more the better)
• Ta-Da! Glittered Pumpkins! :)  

How classic is this dark emerald color! Stylenomics an absolute must have for fall/winter and going to be my first "official" color for the season. Once I get over bright pink anyway (a lasting summer obsession of mine). Hope it's easy to track down!

I am OBSESSED with the band, (who's new to me) Memoryhouse and their new album The Slide Show Effect. I love their dreamy sounds and tracks that feature hints of indie pop. Who's tired of junk mail? Everyone right!?! Cut the clutter with this new app that fights those pesky solicitors that attack via your mail box. The concept is pretty awesome and the steps are really simple! Once you've created an account, you snap a picture of the sender's mailing label (usually accompanied by a corporate logo) through the PaperKarma app, send it off to them and you're done! PaperKarma does all the hard work (contacting the company and getting your name off their distribution list). The app works best for junk mail addressed directly to you (i.e. has your name on it).

I get personalized credit card applications in the mail all. the. time. So I tried this out with some American Express junk mail and while the verdict is still out on whether or not I've been removed from their list (since I just did this yesterday and it takes a few weeks for mailers to process the request) I'm very hopeful! Side note: this app is super new (about a week old) so bare with them if you encounter any delays. The app is available for iphone, android and windows phones.
